Minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday December 2, 2014
The meeting was called to order at approx. 8:06 p.m. - on-line Moderator/Chair. – President: Dave Gilmour

Reminder: A quick reminder that there is a prize at the end of the year for everyone that has attended a meeting, served on the exec or a committee. You get one entry for every meeting attended, committee served on or exec position. They go into a hat at the end of the year and a name is drawn.

Treasurer’s Report – Kim Long

  • Kim: 10-31-2014-  Balance $10,789.59
    • Debits: RTD Cheque $45.00, RTD Cheque Service Charge - $5.00, Monthly Service Charge - $19.00 ($17.00 Monthly Plan Fee, $2.00 Paper Statement Fee)
    • Credits: Membership - $300.00, Trophy Fund - $25.00, Perpetual Trophy Fund - $10.00, Royal Canin - $400.00 (Remainder owed for Sponsorship of National and Regionals.
    • Balance - $11,455.59
    • The Royal Canin sponsorship owing to clubs will be paid as soon as I received the signed new cheques from Dave which are in the mail.  I am still in the process of working with Todd (TD Bank) to arrange to do incoming email transfers only and hopefully we can find a way to do this soon.
  • Kim: Would it be possible to purchase a Basic Accounting Program: approx $100-$150 for the program and a stick for back up in case anything happens to me or treasurer is passed on to someone else it will all be on there.  I have accountants in my family that recommend it and are helping me set everything up.  Thanks
    • Cindy: I think this is a good idea so I make a motion that Kim purchase a basic accounting program.  Seconded by Marta

  • Lillian: I have not rec'd a bill for my 2013 annual awards
    • Kim: Do you have an email address Lillian?  If so could you send it to me...there are a couple of names I have not figured out who is donating the award.  Thanks

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Show Committee 

  • Mary: We need to decide on the judge for the National
    • Proposed Judge (who has been engaged by Kilbride): Ricardo Torres Simoes has been an All Breed judge for 35 years, licensed by the FCI and AKC. He was President of Santos Kennel Club, President of Boxer Club Paulista (two different periods), President of Brazil Boxer Club, and former member of The Judges Department of Brazil Kennel Club. Since 1971 Mr. Simoes lived in London, England for about 12 years and had intense contact with European breeders and judged many times in several countries. Moving to Miami, Florida in 1991 where he lived for many years, he applied and became a registered judge (#7273) for the AKC, for Boxers and other Working Group breeds. In the past years Ricardo has judged Specialties and Championship Shows in the United States and Canada, in Mexico and in many Latin American countries and in Europe as well as in some Asian countries
    • Dave: I suggest we use this judge
    • Josie: Are there other judges names being put forth or just this one?
    • Dave: This has been the only one so far as we don't have unlimited funds to be bringing in an expensive judge based on numbers
    • Lillian: national is where?
    • Mary: Kilbride, Second weekend in August.  Not sure which day.  We need someone to organize this show as we have no Show Chair
    • Jenny: is it possible to get Deb Graffman as show chair for this year as she is a BCC member and is show chair for several other shows
    • Dave:¨We have already contacted her but have not heard back yet
    • Sandra: does this 2015 national have ckc event date approval, and is Killbride in Ont?
    • Mary: Kilbride is in Ontario and we are trying to find out if the Kilbride people have applied to the CKC or not
    • Cindy: I have not received approval for this show yet if that helps.
    • Jenny: Are we the BCC holding the National? - if we are holding it don't we have to apply but if they are holding it they apply
    • Mary: Generally the Show Sec for the All breed show does the applying for us. Cindy can you check the application later and see if they put a specific date on it
  • Cindy: several meetings ago a fellow from Alberta offered to be show chair... can't think of his name but I believe Marta went to a concert with him in Kamloops... what is his name marta
  • Marta: Paul Wilcox
  • Dave: Marta would you contact Paul and see if he would still be willing
  • Marta: From Paul Wilcox - Tell them I regretfully decline with thanks

 

Publicity: Rich Tarrington – No Report – not in attendance
Trophy Committee: Anne

  • Anne: nothing to report but ask a question.  is the BCC trophy person responsible for the trophies or is the host club doing that.
    • Mary: No hosting club Anne this is the BCC show
    • Anne: so when is the show and what is my budget?
    • Dave: August.  We will discuss at exec meeting and get back to you
  • Josie: I forgot to apply for my plaques for this year. Can I apply for them next year as I assume it is too late now?
    • Mary: I don't think we have a policy as such but have played catch up before
    • Cindy: Are the plaques for 2013 or 2014 Josie? Hasn't started yet I believe. Titles earned in 2014 will be done in 2015.
    • Josie: oh? So, I am ahead of myself!

Membership: Patti Gilmour

  • Patti: If you have not already done so, please renew your membership by year end to avoid late fees.

Programme Committee: Lillian

  • Lillian: several items sent to the list for the members to read, nothing to be archived

Discipline Committee:  Frank Rouse (Not in attendance) - No Report

  • Jenny: no cases before us
  • Christine: For anyone with a discipline issue who would they contract or report it to?
    • Jenny: the committee now consists of myself and Frank
    • as Frank is not very active any more please send any discipline issues to me - Jenny Catton

  • Patti:   If anyone has any ideas, please send them my way. Volunteers are always welcome.

  • Approval letter for event dates received from the CKC for BCC Regional Obedience & Rally Obedience on April 3, 2015, and for BCC Regional Specialty & Sweeps on April 4, 2015.
  • Approval letter for judges panel received from the CKC for the BCC Regional Specialty,  Obedience & Rally Obedience April 3 & 4, 2015.
  • Application received from Bev Pope to hold a BCC Regional Specialty from the Manitoba Boxer Club on August 16, 2015..
  • Josie” Are the April dates to be held in B.C.?
    • Cindy: Yes
    • Mary: Could you state the club or city for the Apr 3 & 4th shows
    • Cindy: I believe it is the Rennaisance Dog Association. Don't have the judges names in the letter.
    • Cindy: It's Chilliwack.
    • Dave: We can check and include it in the minutes

Old Business:  

  • Dave: Reminder -  IMPORTANT -Any members who wish to apply for a Regional Specialty in 2015 and want sponsorship from Royal Canin need to get there applications in to Cindy ASAP.  Royal Canin now has a policy that sponsorship from National Clubs must be submitted online in January or early Feb 
  • Sandra: has exec reviewed the colour committee report? I know that I have spoken with Dave re: the ckc end of things but there were 2 other suggested action items in report and wondered if exec had decided whether or not to move forward
    • Dave: The two other items are?
    • Sandra: 1-a position statement, 2-asking the members of they would like to see changes to the colour registration breakdown
    • Dave: The first has not been discussed and the second I was waiting till I had my first board meeting to talk with the registration committee in person, That will be in January
    • Josie: what is "a position statement"?
    • Dave: If you look on The ABC site they speak about the black boxer which is what I think Sandra was referring to.
    • Sandra: yes, the statement is the position of the club
